The 2025 My Safe Florida Condominium Grant Program, House Bill 393, was signed by the Governor on June 23, 2025, and became effective upon his signature. The new law changes the eligibility requirements for the My Safe Florida Condominium Grant Program, a program to fund hurricane hardening projects in condominiums.
Only those condominium buildings three stories or taller and in compliance with their milestone and structural integrity reserve study requirements will be eligible for grant funds. Additionally, to be eligible for grant funding, buildings must be occupied and contain two or more units. In order for an improvement to be eligible to receive grant funding, it must have been identified for replacement in the wind mitigation study provided by the program, and its replacement must result in a wind mitigation credit or other rate differential. As a condition of the grant, the department may require mitigation improvements to be made to all openings including exterior doors, garage doors, windows, and skylights, if doing so is necessary for the building to qualify for mitigation credit.
The legislature has not appropriated any new funds for this program in 2025. Most 2024 grant applicants have not yet received any funds to date because most 2024 applicants have not yet progressed to the payment stage of the process. The new eligibility requirements are expected to disqualify many 2024 applicants, thereby freeing up funding for applicants that meet the new program requirements.
