Lisa Magill (Editor)

Lisa Magill is a shareholder in Becker & Poliakoff’s Community Association Practice Group in Ft. Lauderdale. She focuses her practice exclusively on the representation of Condominium, Homeowners and other shared ownership housing communities.

Lisa has long been active on several Boards of Directors of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) where she has been a featured speaker on issues such as co-ownership housing laws, covenant enforcement, and association operations for Associations' Board members, managers and other professionals in this field. She has delivered educational presentations at Nova Southeastern University, Lynn University, Florida Atlantic University's Life Long Learning, Lecture Series, served as an instructor for the “People's Law School” at the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University and authored and presented several courses qualifying for continuing education credits for licensed Community Association Managers (CAM).

Kevin Edwards

Kevin Edwards is an attorney in the firm’s Community Association Law Group in the Sarasota office. Mr. Edwards is a member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Sarasota County Bar Association, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section of the Florida Bar, and the Sarasota Chapter of the nationwide Community Association Institute. He is a frequent lecturer on various aspects of condominium law and a certified instructor with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation where he teaches condominium and cooperative courses on behalf of the Community Association Institute.

Mr. Edwards received his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University (B.S., 1987) and his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School (J.D., 1993).

Marilyn Perez-Martinez

Marilyn Perez-Martinez practices primarily in the commercial and community association litigation practice groups. Her litigation experience includes the areas of community association law involving enforcement actions and related issues as well as construction and other issues. She has developed cases from inception to resolution handling all aspects of litigation from client meetings to depositions to hearings and settlement negotiations. She is a member of all Florida State Courts and U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida. She is a graduate of University of Miami School of Law, J.D., 2001; Florida International University, B.B.A., 1998.

Sanjay Kurian

Sanjay Kurian is a Board Certified Construction Lawyer and is a member of the Firm’s Construction Law and Commercial Litigation groups. Mr. Kurian has substantial experience representing owners and developers in a variety of construction cases. Mr. Kurian has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating construction contracts for owners and developers. Mr. Kurian has also drafted and negotiated numerous service contracts on behalf of Association clients. Mr. Kurian has lectured frequently on construction defect litigation, construction warranties, mold issues and hurricane preparedness and recovery. Prior to joining the Firm, he served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Robert M. Gross at the Fourth District Court of Appeal. He also gained valuable experience as an Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

Mr. Kurian is a member of the Florida Bar; and admitted to practice in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida;U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida; U.S. Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit. He is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and the University of South Florida.
