Houses Passes CS/CS/CS/SB 1196

Take a well deserved bow. You did it! Today the Florida House of Representatives overwhelming passed CS/CS/CS/SB 1196 (passed on 4/16/2010 by the Florida Senate) sending it to Governor Crist for his signature. Please take a moment to contact the Governor (http://www.flgov.com/contact_governor) and urge him to sign the bill right away. This is very important given his veto of similar last year.

This bill is of SIGNIFICANT POSITIVE IMPACT to community associations. It addresses everything from mortgagee liability (foreclosure crisis) to elevators, to sprinklers, to renters, etc. CALL has sent out earlier alerts containing details and be on the lookout for another summary to be released via the CALL website soon. Please contact your Legislators (both Representative and Senator) and thank them for their support.  From your CALL team on the ground at the Capitol…..THANK YOU!

All your emails, calls, visits and involvement were invaluable. We are only as good as the rest of our team…YOU! Thanks for once again proving you are THE voice for good community association public policy. Attention has been paid.

If Governor Crist signs this bill, when will it become law/ effective?

Can you tell me if the governor has signed this bill into law. Also is there any place to actually be able to read the bill in its entirety.

Thank you,

Jeff

this is so badly needed. Delinquent owners are using our property.. not paying thousands of dollars to Assoc and also having guests use our amenities. DOn't they sign an agreement .. legal when they buy to pay the required dues for their purchase? Terrible situation leading to the ultimate and visible collapse in the state of Florida..

Once signed, It will be effective on July 1st

does anyone know yet, if the Bill was signed by Crist? I was told he signed it but i can't find that he did anywhere?

Thank you for continued status updates on this much needed Bill. I have written Governor Crist on behalf of our Association, urging a signature and trust that many others are doing the same. It's vital to Association's survival.

Can you tell if Gov. Crist has signed this bill? I have a Board meeting this evening and would like to tell Board members about it and the implications to the condo.

Thanks

RESPONSE: As of today (5/27) it has not been signed. We hear that Senator Fasano is trying to arrange for a bill signing ceremony
